遊戲以現代戰爭為背景。當美俄雙方的冷戰打的正火熱時，中國逐漸成長茁壯，此時正值世界第二次大戰，
就在日本忙於應付美國的強烈攻勢之時，俄國趁機從日本領土中奪取了附有大量天然資源與石油的」庫頁
島」，中國開始侵佔這塊資源豐富的島，美國最後也被逼迫參加戰局，添加了這場」庫頁島大戰」!!
與上一代作品最大不同在於」庫頁島」是真實的地方，開發小組針對庫頁島的真實狀況，包含了道路，建
築，地形等..做了完整的真實呈現!
遊戲引擎使用了最新的「Neon」3D引擎，能描繪真實的光影效果、爆炸、煙霧以下的影片為實機遊戲畫面的
效果.除了逼真的遊戲畫面外，遊戲中的武器（計劃數量將超過70種）也非常遵循彈道系統而設計，同時可
在海陸空使用的各種載具也高達30余種!!
單人戰役將會加入一種職業進階系統，隨著經歷不同的戰鬥，以及經驗的增長，你將會從最低階的普通士兵
成長為指揮官。在一些比較特別的任務中，玩家還可以悄悄的執行，同時能利用狙擊gun來解決車輛中的敵
人。
在最終的多人連線模式中，包括三種風格迥異的遊戲模式：殲滅模式——典型的死亡競賽模式；
前線模式——基於團隊進行的佔領遊戲；滲透模式——聽起來像是一種需要精心規劃的多人射擊遊戲。簡單
來說，一個規模較大的隊伍，擁有著較差的裝備，他們要面對的則是相對數量少很多卻裝備精良的小隊，盡
力阻止自己的地盤被他們佔領。　　
為了表現現代戰爭的大場面，Codemasters設計了足夠大的場景，開始玩家只是一名士兵，隨著戰爭的發展
進而成為指揮官，獲得士兵指揮權，包括坦克和直升機等單位也將加入作戰。結合先進的物理引擎和技術，
遊戲將向玩家呈現一場真實的戰爭：遊戲中使用動態的天氣系統，建築和環境也都可以被破壞。
Codemasters設計了超過30種空中和陸地單位以及70種以上的武器，而武器在使用的時候可能會發生故障。
如果士兵被迫擊炮和手榴彈炸到，四肢甚至可能被炸飛，血也將滲過衣服流到地上。同時，敵人和隊友的AI
都獲得了極大的提升。
